This book has doubtless become the standard text on dispensationalism since it was first published under the title Dispensationalism Today in The extent of the influence of both the book and its author are evidenced by the tribute that was paid to Ryrie when he went to heaven earlier this year.

According to Ryrie, “The apostle Paul was principally, though not exclusively, the agent of the revelation of the grace of God for this dispensation.” 8 It is Paul’s gospel that we are to be preaching today.

Only after the rapture of the church (the close of the present dispensation) will the gospel of the kingdom again be relevant. These are taken from Ryrie’s Dispensationalism, pp. Charles Ryrie: “Dispensationalism views the world as a house-hold run by God.

In His household-world God is dispensing or administering its affairs according to His own will and in various stages of revelation in the passage of time.

I actually read this before MacArthur's partner book, "The Gospel According to Jesus." I'm not sure which book came first. Although I do recall thoroughly enjoying the book at the time, and it did inspire me to read it's companion, I don't recall content of the book now, some decade plus later, as i do with "According to Jesus." Still a worthy /5.

InJohn MacArthur wrote The Gospel According to Jesus, a controversial book in certain circles because he relied heavily on the views of Calvinistic writers to deal with the lordship salvation respect for MacArthur grew because he was not afraid to take on those in his own dispensational camp who were teaching "defective theology" about discipleship.

The fastest selling book at GCB, John MacArthur’s THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JESUS, is laying an ax to the roots of this system of interpretation." Another example is a series of taped messages presented by Dr. John Gerstner on the subject of dispensationalism.

Matt Perman is the director of career navigation at The King’s College NYC, a blogger, and an author. There are three main theological camps on the issues of law, gospel, and the structuring of God’s redemptive relationship with humankind: dispensationalism, covenant theology, and new covenant theology.

Introduction: THROUGH an incident of recent occurrence I was made aware of the extent--far greater than I had imagined--to which the modern system of dispensationalism has found acceptance amongst orthodox christians; and also of the extent--correspondingly great--to which the recently published "Scofield Bible" (which is the main vehicle of.

This book is perhaps the definitive response to the controversy but strangely is not included in the bibliography in the updated editions of The Gospel According to Jesus Dispensationalism is a nineteenth-century movement with its own theology, piety, and practice and it is not that of the Reformation.

The cover of MacArthur's book, The Gospel According to Jesus, includes praise from The Fundamentalist Journal, Alliance Life, The Standard, James Montgomery Boice, David Hocking, and J. Packer. In his Foreword, Packer astonishingly asserts that "lordship salvation" is "the mainstream Protestant consensus on the nature of justifying faith.

According to him, Dispensationalism has its roots in the Plymouth Brethren movement. 12 The Gospel proclaimed by both, he charges, is antinomian in character.

13 But we are never told by this writer that the dispensational/Plymouth Brethren view of saving faith has its roots in Reformation theology!1. God, according to the Bible, wants all people everywhere to trust Christ upon hearing the Gospel of the grace of God.

Calvinists agree that the Bible *appears* to teach this. 2. But God, according to Calvinism, secretly enables only a minority of humanity to believe the Gospel. 3. Introduction: "The Gospel According to the Apostles" is the follow-up to John MacArthur's famous book, "The Gospel According to Jesus".

The Lordship Salvation debate was about how a person is saved - do they.
